Welcome to 2X4 Quarter Horses

This is our blog for Cottar 2X4 Quarter Horses, Inc. just northwest of Ft. Worth, Texas in the heart of the cutting and reining horse industry. We are Gary and Marilyn Cottar, formerly owners and developers of Cottar Rope Co., Inc. In 1999 we sold our lariat rope company of 36 years and started our voyage into the quarter horse industry. We specifically breed for the cutting, reining and working cow horse industry and just recently have opened up to the ranch versatility competitions. Any of the off spring from the stallions listed below are all eligible for the NRBC and the stallions are offered up in NRHA Sire and Dam program.

We are located in Parker County where most of the largest quarter horse breeding farms are located. As of last count, there were more brood mares in this county during breeding season, than the whole state of California combined. We stand several stallions each season: Little Bo Badger(own son of Peppy San Badger)[Bo's offspring going to Europe are eligible for the German futurity as well as the NRBC and the NRHA sire and dam program] and Pepto Boon Shaddow(own son of Pepto Boonsmal). Each year we offer weanlings, yearling and two year olds, by these stallions and
3 times NRHA Champion Hollywood White.

People that visit us always comment on the high level of care our animals receive and in turn how that personal attention produces such wonderful temperaments and willingness to learn. Our horses not only have natural athletic ability but easy to train attitude and want to please. Watching them in the pasture you can see why so many trainers love to work with them. Trainers often comment that they are so natural at what they do that it makes their job effortless.

We have been lucky to reach the European market with most of our better colts. They have done great things with them there and come back for more prospects each year. We have offspring in Sweden, Netherlands, Germany, Austria and Israel to name only a few places they have gone to.
Stay tuned for more posts each week. You can visit our website for contact information.
